Meet Arthur

Arthur J. Gray, II, JD, D.Min brings a rich and varied background to his consulting work
with Genysys. Dr. Gray has been an attorney for over 20 years; he was a Deputy District
Attorney for 10 years with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office and spent most
of his time there as a prosecutor working in the Compton Hardcore Gang Division. He
prosecuted some of the most violent criminals of murders, multiple murders and
robberies. Dr. Gray was considered a tough but fair prosecutor. He appeared twice on the
PBS television series Life and Times. He has worked as a community advocate, partnering
with residents to make streets safe. During his tenure, he earned and still has the respect of
attorneys, judges, law enforcement and community leaders.

Prosecution was his career, but advocating for justice is his passion. Dr. Gray has also
been in ministry for over 25 years. During and after leaving the District Attorney’s office,
he pastored churches in Inglewood and Long Beach, California. Pastor Art, as many
congregants still call him, delivered many powerful messages where many received
needed encouragement and direction for their lives. Dr. Art has also served as a national
denominational executive and leader in urban and multicultural ministries, overseeing
over 140 pastoral leaders and churches. He has spoken nationally and internationally to
intimate groups as well as to groups of thousands. His vision for transforming lives and
empowering everyone to live out his or her greatest, God-given potential was at the core
of every ministry assignment, and thus GraysMatters was born. Dr. Art is founder and
Executive Director of GraysMatters, where he focuses his work on organizational
consulting and life coaching to help people move from surviving to thriving! His

organization, GraysMatters, has also focused on helping people understand the criminal
justice system as well as working to keep youth out of the juvenile and ultimately the
criminal justice system. He is still a licensed attorney acting on behalf of attorneys in civil
and criminal matters. With this background and focus, working with Genysys is a natural
fit. He focuses his Genysys consulting practice on executive coaching, Strategic Futuring
for Individuals, and organizational development work across sectors.

Dr. Gray holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Economics from Loyola Marymount
University, a Juris Doctors degree from Southwestern University School of Law, and a
Doctor of Ministry degree in Transformational Leadership in the Global City from Bakke
Graduate University. He has a Certificate of Leadership Development through Coach
Certification Training from LeaderBreakthru. Dr. Gray is also a regular contributor on Fox’s
Good Day LA morning program. He speaks on legal, religious, and other newsworthy
social issues. He is an adjunct faculty member of Tozer Seminary in Redding, California,
where his class “Politics, Legalities and Money” is geared to help students understand the
comprehensive impact these areas have in today’s society. He is also an adjunct professor
at Azusa Pacific University in the School of Business and Management. He has been an
adjunct professor at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California, teaching
Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Old Testament Survey, Business Law, and Introduction
to Business; an adjunct professor at Life Pacific College; and has served on the Board of
Trustees at Life Pacific College from 2000 - 2011.
